Here’s some better late than never news, Gaming Life in Japan during Xmas week!
As you can imagine, the 3DS was literally printing money for Nintendo during this busy shopping week. The 3DS sells like hotcakes as it is but during this busy period, it was practically jumping off store shelves!
Looking at the software chart, the sales reflect this with The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds and PazuDora Z: Puzzle & Dragons Z both for the 3DS taking spots 1 and 2 respectively on the charts. The 3rd spot was taken by a Square Enix Final Fantasy title, Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster. Pokemon X/Y is still keeping collectors busy by hanging around in the 4th spot while the PS Vita makes an entry with the Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster: Twin Pack release. The Wii U wasn’t slouching from its recent run of success with 3 titles in the top 10. Wii Party U, New Super Mario Bros. U and Super Mario 3D World took out spots 6, 7, and 8. The last 2 games were more 3DS titles with Monster Hunter 4 and Animal Crossing: New Leaf rounding out Nintendo’s entries.
The hardware charts were impressive for Nintendo with the 3DS pushing 208, 893 units and the Wii U in 2nd spot with 79, 174 units sold during Christmas week. The PS Vita was enjoying some good fortune with 75, 207 handhelds sold. It looks like the Wii U has finally managed to hit its stride with the surge in sales lasting for over 1 month now. Hopefully the console can stay in the top 3 and keep enjoying healthy sales. Well, until the PS4 is released anyways.
