Popular manga, Umizaru Coast Guard, is receiving a fourth live movie adaptation helmed by Eiichirō Hasumi who has previously directed the first three films in the franchise. Hideaki Ito will be back to reprise his role in the movie series that has done very well at the box office earning enough money to earn a fourth go around. 2004, 2006 and 2010 saw the release of the first three films respectively with the second and third movie being extremely high money earners and the highest live action movies in their year of release. The third movie earned 8 billion yen (roughly 10 million US dollars) and the second movie garnered 7.1 billion yen for the Japanese box office.
The fourth movie will begin shooting on September 17 while the official site has already started looking for extra. If you’re in Japan, throw your hat in the ring, you may wind up being an extra in an international movie.
Umizaru, the manga, is written by Shuho Sato who is also responsible for Say Hello To Black Jack and The Isle of TOKKOU.
